Explaining Psychology to a friend…
For this Reflection Paper, write a letter to a friend or family member explaining what we have discussed in class so far. You letter should contain answers to the following questions:
- In your opinion, what are the 4 most important points we have discussed?
- What are the important words, concepts, and ideas that you would tell your friend about?
- How does the information we talked about in class relate to your own life?
- How do the ideas we have discussed help you understand the role psychology plays in the world?
At the end of your letter, you will also write to your friend about an aspect of psychology you would like to learn more about. Use PsycInfo to search for and find an article on a topic that interests you. Write one sentence that attempts to summarize what the article is about and tell your friend why you would like to learn more about this topic. Provide the citation for the article at the end of your paper. (We will go over how to find an article and citation in class.)
The letter should be written in your own words and style of writing. If you and a friend/family member have a story that would relate to concepts we have covered, you can use those stories as examples to help your friend better understand what we have been talking about in class. This reflection will be graded based on your explanation and reflection on what we have learned so far about psychology, not perfect writing or exactly right definitions. To receive 5/5 points for this paper, it should be turned in on time and include thoughtful, personalized consideration of class concepts, and article summary and citation.
This letter aims to help you recap what you have learned so far, and help you begin studying for our exam.
Reflection papers should be no more than 2 pages long. Papers should be double spaced and written in 12-pt font with 1-inch margins. Papers should be stapled when you hand them in.
Reflection 1 is due on Thursday September 14th in class. Please print and bring to class.
